Corrode is the twelfth map in VALORANT, set in the radianite ruins of Mont-Saint-Michel. With its massive terrain, the map demands cautious play and places a strong focus on mid control. It also has many tight angles, nasty chokepoints, and paper-thin walls that disrupt even the most coordinated setups. Our Corrode VALORANT guide will explain how to play Corrode in VALORANT by discussing proven attacking and defending strategies to outplay your opponents. To top it off, we’ll also spotlight some of the best agents for the job!

Corrode Map Overview And Callouts

Corrode is a classic two-site, three-lane map in VALORANT, added on June 25, 2025 (V25 Act 4, v11.00). The map is set in the crumbling salt flats of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy, France, and is characterized by long rotations, spam-heavy terrain, and tight chokepoints.

While it doesn’t contain any mechanical features like ziplines or teleporters, it has loads of wallbangable spots for Odin lovers. Corrode’s official map description in VALORANT reads:

“A French castle town turned radianite salt mining facility. Siege your way through medieval streets, exploiting repurposed industrial machinery to battle across layered defenses in this traditional three lane map.”

How To Attack On Corrode

Corrode is a pretty challenging map for the attacking side in VALORANT. Here are some things you’ll want to consider:

Attacking A Site

Watch your angles! There are so many tight corners, off-angles, and elevations for attackers to consider on Corrode. The path from A Main into A Yard into A Elbow is especially tricky to pass through, with the left side near A Link leaving you open and vulnerable to defenders.

For this reason, establishing Mid control is paramount. Mid leads directly to A Site via A Link, so taking it lets you do a site split and break down tough defensive setups. To run it down, you’ll want to block key sightlines near Mid Top and Mid Window to cover any exposed angles during a split.

Use layered utility and double Initiator setups (e.g., Fade’s Prowler and Sova’s Owl Drone) for stronger site entry. These agents pair well with Odin spam. For the plant, place the spike behind the metal box. If that’s not an option, plant it out in the open and punish defenders with wallbangs.

Attacking B Site

Corrode’s B Site is another defender’s playground. It has many tight chokepoints and vertical angles to stall aggressive pushes using crowd control like flashes, mollies, or smokes—all without overextending. And if that’s not enough, there are also many spots for attackers to get peeked from.

A hard rush through B Main is nearly impossible. Instead, focus on controlling Mid, using smokes and other util at angles like Mid Window to stagnate defender rotations. By doing this, the defending side won’t know which site to rotate, since both are viable attacking options.

Once you’re on B Site, be prepared to contest B Main, smoking off key areas like B Tower and B Link. You can lean into a double Controller setup to help block off other points of contention like B Elbow. This should give you a safer entry for a default plant near hut.

How To Defend On Corrode

Corrode is heavily defender-favored, but it’s important not to lose control early. Here’s the best strat for the defending side:

Defending A Site

For A Site, you’ll want to play to retake unless you’re playing for picks with an Operator or trap in A Main. It’s a lot harder to hold directly due to Corrode’s wide entry paths, but it’s easier to collapse onto if Mid is contested.

A Elbow is an especially critical control point, so play around your intel to avoid the long rotation through Defender Spawn between sites. Have at least one player watching Mid or Elbow so they can flank or support B if necessary. At the same time, maintain control of A Main and A Link to counter a split through Mid.

You can do this by using Omen or Viper smokes to control the space and cut off important sightlines. In addition, you can also use Sova’s dart above or behind attackers pushing onto A, using the momentary distraction to eliminate them.

Defending B Site

Defending on Corrode is all about early control and util layering. Your primary aim is to use smokes, stuns, and mollies to delay attackers trying to breach site. The attacking side will likely try to split through B Main and B Link, so holding them off with an Operator or Odin from backsite or high grounds is vital.

If the attacking side breaks through, you’ll have to retake by pushing the same chokes the attackers had to clear. Avoid this by running a double Sentinel setup to cover awkward paths and make it easier for your team to rotate elsewhere. This will also force attackers to burn through util in an attempt to not get caught off guard.

Best Agents To Play On Corrode VALORANT

Not sure who to play on Corrode? Let us cut through the noise by highlighting the top picks for each role.

Best Duelist: Yoru

There are many great Duelists to play on Corrode, but few compare to Yoru. His long-range teleport lets him flank and rotate between sites instantly. He also pairs perfectly with recon agents like Sova or Fade, and his clone can bait out enemy utility. Not your vibe? Phoenix, Jett, and Neon are all fantastic alt picks.

Best Sentinel: Cypher

The best Sentinel has to be Cypher. His Trapwire dominates Corrode’s long lanes, while his Spycam and Cyber Cage give him the info and utility he needs to solo hold or lurk with ease. Beyond that, Cypher enjoys a 49.5% win rate and 7.2% pick rate in ranked games, making him as reliable as he is popular.

Best Controller: Omen

Omen is the best Controller on Corrode (hands down). The map’s wide sightlines and open chokepoints offer tons of spots to teleport and smoke, allowing him to pressure enemies, fake executes, and reposition as needed. While Clove has a higher win rate (52.4% vs. 45.8%) in ranked matches, Omen is a perfect match for this map.

Best Initiator: Fade

The best Initiator on Corrode is probably Fade. The map’s layered terrain allows her Prowlers to clear angles safely, while her Seize can stall pushes or trap enemies in deadly spam zones. Although Sova is also strong here (especially for beginners), Fade is a far better match for the map’s chaotic entries and tough retakes.
