Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the latest entry in Activision’s acclaimed first-person shooter (FPS) series. Led by the genius team at Sledgehammer Games, MW3 will close the Modern Warfare trilogy with the return of SAS operative John Price and terrorist Vladimir Makarov.

Experience the adrenaline with fresh innovations, including an Open Combat Mission campaign, reworked classics of MW2’s 2009 map pool, reintroduced red dot minimap and map voting, and iconic game modes like Hardpoint. Want to learn more about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III? Let us lead the way.

But first, don’t forget that at Thunderpick you can also get access to the latest Call of Duty odds.

What Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’s Release Date?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III releases on Nov. 10, 2023. It will be available on Steam and Battle.Net for PC players, as well as PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

Modern Warfare 3 2023 Campaign

The Modern Warfare III campaign picks up right after its predecessor’s events, with Captain Price and Task Force 141 confronting their nemesis: the ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov. As Makarov extends his influence globally, the Task Force must combat this emerging threat with heightened urgency.

The campaign blends Call of Duty’s linear missions and innovative Open Combat Missions to give players more freedom. This includes selecting a tactical approach that best matches your playstyle. Want to go guns-blazing? You can! Prefer the stealthier approach? MW3 has you covered.

You’ll enjoy a range of weapons and tactics in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, each providing an immersive combat experience. Better yet, the choices you make in combat and how you navigate these missions further enrich the campaign’s narrative.

As noted by Activision in the official MW3 blog post:

“Feel free to take advantage of any operable vehicles within your area of operations. You’re able to experiment with and leverage tactical and lethal equipment. You have the flexibility to maneuver across the sizable landscape of a mission’s AO and approach objectives from multiple angles. You can truly play how you want to play, and Open Combat Missions will support it.”

Is Modern Warfare 3 A Continuation Of Modern Warfare 2?

Yes! While Sledgehammer Games has zigzagged with remasters and the like in previous CoD video games, we’re happy to reveal that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be a direct sequel to 2022’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.

Who Is The Protagonist Of Modern Warfare 3?

The main character in MW3 is the fan-favorite commander of Task Force 141, Captain John Price (played by Barry Sloane), an elite combat tracker and strategist who has faced many adversities. He will face off against iconic Russian antagonist Vladimir Makarov from the original Modern Warfare game.

MW3 Character List

Here is a list of characters also reappearing in MW3:

  • Sergeant John “Soap” MacTavish
  • Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley
  • Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick
  • Liberation Force Commander Farah Karim
  • CIA Station Chief Kate Laswell
  • Colonel Alejandro Vargas (Expected)
  • General Shepherd (Expected)

Modern Warfare 3 2023 Multiplayer

In addition to the cinematic free-form combat in the campaign, you can enjoy 16 Multiplayer maps at launch. There are also plans to add 12 new core 6v6 maps in later seasons. These maps will celebrate the 20th anniversary of CoD, boasting a modernized take on the original maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009).

Among the many innovations in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III include Tac-Stance, a mid-point between hip-fire and aiming down sights. You’ll also find evolving loadouts for even better customization, and After-Market Parts for tailored weapon configurations in the Gunsmith.

But it doesn’t stop there, because the developers also revised core mechanics. Map Voting is back, the Minimap now displays unsuppressed enemy gunfire, and all Perks are accessible from the start of a match. Plus, health in Core Multiplayer is upped to 150 for longer Time-to-Kill.

Movement dynamics evolved, too. There’s faster mantling, the ability to cancel slides and reloads, and an extended Tactical Sprint. Lastly, content and progression from Modern Warfare II seamlessly carry forward—but more on that later.

Does Modern Warfare 3 Have Zombies?

Yes! Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will feature a zombies mode, and players will explore the vast expanse of the largest undead map ever. Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ) will feature the Dark Aether Zombies story, which is linked to the CoD: Black Ops universe.

This iteration will up the ante of the undead experience by allowing squads to team up against massive hordes, traversing missions that scale in difficulty, all set in an open-world PvE format. With the core experience intact, MWIII’s Zombies promises an unmatched undead survival experience.

Will My MW2 Gear Carry Over To MW3?

Yes, you can access your Modern Warfare II gear via the “Carry Forward” feature. It includes weapons, cosmetics, bundles, Operators, and other in-game rewards and unlocks. This ensures seamless functionality between new attachments and global weapon platforms from both games.

Note: You can’t carry any content from the new game back to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The Carry Forward feature also applies to Warzone.
