Dota 2 Patch 7.35 – The Full Roundup

Share this post:

Want to know what’s new in Dota 2 patch 7.35? We’ve got you covered! Leading up to The International 2023, Valve mentioned that future updates would ship with more striking changes—and they weren’t kidding! The latest patch is massive and it arrives in the middle of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur Major (which also offers some great opportunities for Dota 2 betting).

In this guide, we’ll dissect all the key details of the Dota 2 7.35 update, covering hero and item changes, quality-of-life improvements, and all of King Kringle’s new Frostivus cosmetic chests and Christmas-themed goodies.

Note: As identified by Team Spirit’s analyst Mark Lerman, there are multiple inaccuracies in the Dota 2 7.35 patch notes, some of which Valve addressed in a hotfix. The developers will likely resolve more bugs and errors in subsequent updates.

What’s Changed In Dota 2 Patch 7.35?

It may be easier to ask what hasn’t changed! The latest Dota 2 update is brimming with content, ranging from new heroes and items to reworks and balance changes (more on that later). In short, update 7.35 is meaty—Super and Mega Creeps have been buffed, and even Couriers now have a hit-based health system!

The Dota 2 map has new Watchers placed in strategic locations. Teleport times to Outposts have also been reduced to foster more aggressive gameplay! What’s more, the Fountain now also has splash attacks (sorry, campers), and even Roshan and Tormentors have new tricks up their sleeves!

Roshan And Tormentor Updates

Specifically, “Roar of Retribution” triggers when Roshan’s HP falls below 80% (and he’s attacked by the team that last slayed him). This damages all units in a 900 AoE and applies a +25% damage amplification debuff. He also drops “Roshan’s Banner,” which buffs allied lane creeps’ HP and damage.

Likewise, Tormentors’ new ability, “The Shining,” deals periodic damage (30dps, in 0.2s intervals) spread evenly to all units in a 1200 radius. Beyond this, Dota 2 patch 7.35 has reworked the Double Damage, Invisibility, Haste, Arcane, and Regeneration Runes, introducing new effects and durations.

Map Edits And Bug Squashes

Neutral bounty has also been reduced, and the map has undergone deforestation. Specifically, certain trees were removed, and a new AoE Radius bonus now boosts the width and radius of spells. Finally, many bugs have been fixed, allowing Dota 2 players to grind MMR with new confidence!

Dota 2 Patch 7.35 Hero Balance Changes

There are too many Dota 2 hero changes in patch 7.35 to mention here. So, for the sake of brevity, we’ve detailed only the most striking nerfs and buffs below.

Buffed Heroes

  • Leshrac: Perhaps the biggest winner, Diabolic Edict’s damage has increased to 9/16/23/30 from 7/14/21/28. Lightning Storm now also slows Attack Speed by 50. Paired with Shiva’s Guard and Bloodstone’s AoE Radius bonus, it’s understandable why Lesh’s win rate surged by more than 10% in patch 7.35!
  • Abaddon: Base Armor increased by 1. Also, Curse of Avernus now deals 30/40/50/60 DPS when it procs, with a damage interval of 0.5s (70% reduced damage to buildings). The Level 10 Talent is now Aphotic Shield gives +15 HP Regen, offering greater survivability. The Level 15 Talent is now +80 Curse of Avernus DPS.
  • Vengeful Spirit: Nether Swap damage has increased to 150/300/450 and now provides a damage barrier equal to the spell’s damage value for 10s to Venge and nearby allies. Talent Levels 15 and 20 have changed: Wave of Terror Armor Reduction increased from 4 to 5, and Wave of Terror steals 20% of reduced damage and armor, respectively. The Level 25 Talent is now -18s Nether Swap cooldown.
  • Timbersaw: Base Strength increased from 25 to 27, and Strength gain increased from 3.2 to 3.5. Reactive Armor max stacks have increased to 15/24/33/42 (the stacks per Hero Attack have also increased to 3), making Timbersaw super tanky in the lane. This is further buffed by the Level 10 and 15 Talents, which changed to +0.2 Reactive Armor Regen per Stack and +6 Max /1+ Hero Attack Reactive Armor Stacks, respectively.
  • Death Prophet: Silence now slows enemy movement by up to 25%. Also, the Level 20 Talent Crypt Swarm gives +15% Silence Move Speed Slow. Essentially, this means enemies cannot escape or use spells. Ouch!
  • Juggernaut: Blade Fury has been buffed. Damage tick is rescaled to match Jugg’s attack rate multiplied by 2, DPS rescaled to 35/40/45/50 per tick, and Agh’s Shard is reworked to increase the spell’s radius by 100 and now slows enemy movement speed by 35%. Level 10 and 15 Talents have also changed.

Nerfed Heroes

  • Spectre: Reduced base health regeneration and minimum radius for Dispersion. Also, Reality now only triggers one cast of Spectral Dagger per Illusion. Overall, Spec is significantly weaker in the early and mid-late game.
  • Dazzle: Bad Juju no longer affects item cooldowns, and the Health Cost increase per cast is reduced to 40%. Also, heroes affected by Poison Touch can be denied by allies if their HP falls under 25%.
  • Slardar: Slithereen Crush radius was reduced (from 350 to 325), and the Level 20 and 25 Talents for the ability were nerfed: damage reduced (from +150 to +125) and cooldown reduction reduced (from 4s to 3s), respectively.
  • Necrophos: Increased mana cost for Death Pulse and reduced effectiveness of Heartstopper Aura with Aghanim’s Scepter and in the Level 20 Talent Tree.
  • Muerta: Gunslinger is now toggleable and no longer prioritizes heroes, reducing its effectiveness in harassing and pushing lanes. Also, Pierce the Veil’s bonus attack damage decreased (from 70/110/150 to 70/100/130).
  • Bristleback: Reduced the stack limit for Ash’s Shard upgrade to Viscous Nasal Goo (from 7 to 6) and increased the Aghanim’s Scepter cooldown of Bristleback (from 20s to 24s), resulting in a lower proc chance. The Level 10 Talent is now +25 Attack Speed, which is a somewhat-negligible change from +20 Damage.
  • Centaur Warrunner: Reduced damage for Hoof Stomp (from 120/180/240/300 to 90/160/230/300) and Double Edge’s Strength Damage in the Level 15 Talent (from +40% to +35%).
  • Phantom Assassin: Phantom Strike no longer provides lifesteal, and Fan of Knives’ damage type changed from Pure to Physical. These changes make PA far less durable in team fights.

All Item Changes In Dota 2 Patch 7.35

There is a long list of item changes in Dota 2 patch 7.35, with many fan favorites receiving nerfs and buffs. In addition, Valve has introduced a few new items to shake up the meta! Since there is so much to discuss, we’ve decided to focus on only the most significant changes.

New Items

  • Ring of Tarrasque: Provides +12 Health Regen (costs 1800 gold at the Secret Shop).
  • Tiara of Selemene: Offers +6 Mana Regen (costs 1800 gold at the Secret Shop).
  • Khanda: Provides +50 Damage, +200 Health, +200 Mana, and +8 All Attributes. It also has a 30% chance for 160% critical damage and Phylactery’s passive, but with the bonus damage rescaled to 100+75% AD (costs 5000 gold. Requires Crystalys, Phylactery, and 600g recipe).
  • Parasma: Grants +45 Intelligence, +40 Attack Speed, +8 Armor, and +300 Attack Projectile Speed. It applies a -20% Magic Resistance debuff and has an enhanced Witch Blade passive—the Int multiplier is 1x and has a lower cooldown (costs 5575 gold, and requires Witch Blade and Mystic Staff).

Item Reworks & Balance Changes

  • Arcane Boots: Recipe changed. It no longer provides +250 Mana but now offers +0.75 Mana Regen and Basilius Aura (not disassemblable).
  • Bloodstone: Now provides a +75 AoE radius, increasing the radius and width of spells.
  • Bloodthorn: Recipe changed. Bloodthorn has numerous stat changes (offers less Int and Mana Regen but more Attack Speed) and includes Javelin’s passive. Also, Soul Rend’s effect now causes all attacks to deal 60 bonus magical damage. It no longer offers Mage Slayer’s passive or +25% Magic Resistance.
  • Butterfly: Recipe changed. It also includes stat adjustments—it no longer offers +30 Attack Speed but instead +20% Base Attack Speed.
  • Echo Sabre: Recipe changed. Now provides +20 Attack Damage and +15 Strength instead of Int and Attack Speed bonuses. Echo Strike cooldown is also reduced.
  • Eternal Shroud: Recipe changed. It no longer provides the benefits of Kaya. Instead, it offers +300 HP and +25% Magic Resistance. The new passive Eternal Endurance increases magic resistance based on the magical damage received.
  • Ethereal Blade: Reworked recipe. No longer provides benefits of Kaya. Instead, you get +8 All Attributes, +300 Mana, +3 Mana Regen, and +250 Cast Range.
  • Orb of Corrosion: Reworked with a new recipe and effects. It now provides +3 Armor, +25 Attack Speed, and a debuff that affects healing and regeneration (including lifesteal and spell lifesteal).
  • Revenant’s Brooch: Recipe changed. It now offers +70 damage, +20% spell lifesteal, and a unique toggle feature that allows attacks to deal bonus magical damage and hit Ethereal units.

In addition to these changes, the following items were removed: Quarterstaff, Ring of Health, Void Stone, and Medallion of Courage.

  • Doubloon (Tier 3): Offers +5 Health Regen, +2.5 Mana Regen, and a toggle to convert 20% of Max Health to Mana or vice versa.
  • Nemesis Curse (Tier 3): Provides +35 Damage, with a passive that increases damage taken by 8% and a debuff that increases enemy damage taken by 12%.
  • Ancient Guardian (Tier 4): Provides +50 Damage, with an additional +50 damage near an Ancient.
  • Aviana’s Feather (Tier 4): Offers +25% Evasion, +30 Movement Speed, and flying movement below 30% health.
