Heroic’s History

Heroic was founded in March 2013 as a “casual home” for Danish players in Copenhagen, helping players get to tournaments, facilitating the payment of tournament fees, and distributing prize winnings. Heroic essentially supported rising talents, like the legendary Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, while hosting community esports events in the capital city. But this quickly changed.

The organization was acquired by the Danish esports venture RFRSH in 2016, when it became the home for SK Gaming’s former CS:GO lineup. This marked a new chapter for Heroic. The team achieved massive success in Counter-Strike and expanded to other esports titles, including League of Legends, Battlefield 4, Starcraft II, and Hearthstone.

In 2018, Heroic was sold to Seranades Global Inc. in a divestment to comply with WESA and Valve’s multi-team ownership rules. The team was sold a third time to the Norwegian organization Omaken Sports in February 2021 before being acquired by Heroic Group AS on Aug. 8, 2023, in a 56 million NOK ($5.25 million) deal brokered by ULTI Agency, Krow Bidco AS.

Heroic’s Counter-Strike 2 Team

HEROIC has completely restructured its CS2 roster for 2025, parting ways with all players from the previous lineup. This major shake-up follows the departures of key figures like TeSeS, kyxsan, and degster to Falcons, NertZ to Liquid, and sjuush to Ninjas in Pyjamas. With the organization looking for a fresh start, they’ve built an entirely new squad led by head coach sAw, aiming to regain their competitive edge.

The new lineup brings together former Sangal players LNZ (who will serve as the in-game leader), xfl0ud, and yxngstxr. Joining them is Spanish AWPer SunPayus, who reunites with coach sAw after working together at a previous organization, along with Belarusian rifler tN1R. Additionally, nilo and Maden will serve as substitutes. With this mix of experienced talent and promising new players, HEROIC is setting up for an exciting season ahead in CS2.

Other Heroic Teams

Think that’s all? You’d be mistaken! HEROIC has steadily expanded its presence in Fortnite and Valorant, further cementing its role as a powerhouse in esports. In Fortnite, the organization made waves by signing European star Th0masHD, known for his high-level mechanical skills and competitive consistency. Building on that momentum, HEROIC later formed a 4v4 squad featuring Th0masHD, Fredoxie, Hellfire, and Kiro (on loan), with the goal of dominating major tournaments like DreamHack Dallas and the Esports World Cup. This strategic move showcases HEROIC’s ambition to stay at the forefront of Fortnite’s evolving competitive scene.

Meanwhile, HEROIC has also made a strong entry into Valorant with the introduction of the HEROIC Valkyries, a dedicated women’s roster competing in VCT Game Changers. This team, built around former NEON BLADE players, features Cille as the in-game leader, supported by auri, adora, SUPERPHROG, and Lyda. By investing in Valorant’s growing Game Changers ecosystem, HEROIC is demonstrating its commitment to fostering talent and diversity in the esports landscape.
