Overwatch Esports Teams
Crazy Raccoon
Our top pick for the best Overwatch 2 team to watch in 2025 goes to Crazy Raccoon. The South Korean organization has seen tremendous success since announcing its roster on April 7, 2024. First-place finishes in OWCS Stage 1 Asia, the Dallas Major, and the Esports World Cup 2024 make it abundantly clear that this is the strongest team heading into 2025.
In every significant event Crazy Raccoon didn’t win, they made it to the Grand Final. This includes notable second-place finishes in the OWCS Stage 2 Asia Main Event and the OWCS World Finals. The string of excellent results comes as no surprise, with the 2021 world champion LIP (with Shanghai Dragons) and 2023 world champion CH0R0NG (with Florida Mayhem) on the Crazy Raccoon squad.
Crazy Raccoon roster:
- Chae “HeeSang” Hee-sang
- Lee “LIP” Jae-won
- Sung “CH0R0NG” Yoo-min
- Park “Junbin” Jun-bin
- Choi “MAX” Su-min
- Kim “Shu” Jin-seo
Team Falcons
Team Falcons is the OWCS World Finals champion and one of the top Overwatch 2 teams to watch in 2025. Throughout the 2024 season, the team consistently proved that they’re one of the best teams in the world, finishing second at the OWCS Major and making it to the podium with a respectable third place at the Esports World Cup.
The roster consists of stars from the Overwatch League era, including previous top partner teams. Support player Hanbin was a 2022 world champion with Dallas Fuel, and their Tank player, smurf, is a three-time world champion (2019 and 2020 with San Francisco Shock) and then once again in 2024 with Team Falcons.
Team Falcons roster:
- Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun
- Jeong “Stalk3r” Hak-yong
- Han “ChiYo” Hyeon-seok
- Kwon “Fielder” Joon
- Choi “Hanbin” Han-been
- Majed “SirMajed” Alrashied
- Yoo “smurf” Myeong-hwan
ENCE
ENCE is a standout squad in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region, with respectable results at the OWCS Dallas Major (4th), Esports World Cup 2024 (5th-8th), and OWCS World Finals (7th-8th). The squad also managed at least a podium finish in the EMEA region for all four stages and convincingly won Stage 3, beating Virtus.pro 4-2 in the Grand Final.
At the heart of ENCE’s success are the DPS duo from past Overwatch League teams, Kai (Atlanta Reign) and kevster (Los Angeles Gladiators). We also have to shout out Danish Support legend Kellex, previously from Boston Uprising.
ENCE roster:
- Kai “Kai” Collins
- Kevin “kevster” Persson
- William “WMaimone” Maimone
- Ilari “Vestola” Vestola
- Oleksandr “Chase” Okseschenko
- Robert “Skairipa” Lupsa
- Kristian “Kellex” Keller
ZETA DIVISION
South Korea boasts the best Overwatch esports teams, with the OWCS World Final 2024 finalists (Crazy Raccoons and Team Falcons) topping the Asia Pacific region. ZETA DIVISION placed 3rd-4th at the Esports World Cup 2024, chomping at their heels.
This squad boasts a potent and experienced lineup with the legendary Support player, Park “Viol2t” Min-ki, as the star. Many fans consider Viol2t as the best Overwatch player in history.
However, the team did lose legendary Tank player Lee “Fearless” Eui-Seok to retirement at the end of July 2024. They also failed to qualify for the OCS World Final, losing 3-2 to Team Falcons in the all-important Stage 2 Playoffs match. If ZETA DIVISION can quickly recover from this setback, though, they’ll take the Asia region by storm in 2025.
ZETA DIVISION roster:
- Kim “AlphaYi” Jun
- Lim “Flora” Young-woo
- Oh “Pelican” Se-hyun
- Shin “BERNAR” Se-won
- Lee “HEESUNG” Hee-sung
- Oh “FiNN” Se-jin
- Park “Viol2t” Min-ki
Virtus.pro
On June 11, 2024, Virtus.pro stepped into the competitive Overwatch esports scene for the first time, acquiring the promising young Ataraxia roster. With the acquisition, fans could finally cheer for “the Bears” in Overwatch 2 tournaments. They’re set to compete in the EMEA region in 2025, and we can’t wait to see how the team grows under the iconic esports organization’s banner.
Virtus.pro didn’t make it to the OWCS 2024 World Finals and didn’t exist in competitive Overwatch when the OWCS 2024 Major took place. However, the squad impressed us at the Esports World Cup 2024 at the end of July, where they topped Group D with a flawless 3-0 score. They finished in 5th-8th place, losing 4-1 to Team Falcons and proving they can put up a solid fight against the best.
Virtus.pro roster:
- Niclas “sHockWave” Jensen
- Paavo “Sauna” Ulmanen
- Viljami “Clowd” Pikkumäki
- Jesús “Galaa” López
- Christian “Khenail” Ríos
- Rasmus “Raajaro” Rosvall
Why Did We Pick These Overwatch 2 Teams?
We based our picks for the best Overwatch 2 teams to watch in 2025 on past performances, considering all the OWCS 2024 results, both regional and in the most significant international events. We also reviewed team form, roster synergy, and individual player skill level to bring you a well-rounded list. History does tend to repeat itself, but that doesn’t mean a new contender to the throne won’t emerge in 2025.
We omitted North American regional champion Toronto Defiant from the list because they are taking a break from Overwatch in 2025. Despite placing fourth at the OWCS 2024 World Finals, NRG Shock has no active roster at the time of writing. The same goes for Spacestation Gaming, which bid farewell to its roster in November 2024.
Previous Overwatch League partner teams, such as New York Excelsior and Los Angeles Valiant from North America, no longer exist. Neither do London Spitfire, Houston Outlaws, Chengdu Hunters, Vancouver Titans, Washington Justice, Philadelphia Fusion, or Paris Eternal. This is an exciting era of Overwatch esports, focusing on open competition!
As for some honorable mentions, we want to give a shout-out to Twisted Minds, M80, Fnatic, and Gaimin Gladiators. They’re all well-positioned to leave their mark on the scene in ‘25.
We Can’t Wait For 2025
We’re so excited to see what Overwatch esports look like in 2025. We’re already fans of the hero shooter’s competitive scene, but when you consider that it was overhauled this past year, our excitement has only grown! And that’s not even mentioning the incredible pool of talent including, yes, all of the teams we highlighted in this list.
