The pre-season tournament is divided into three stages: Group Battle, Play-In, and Playoffs.

Group Battle

The Group Battle (Jan. 14 to Feb. 1) divides all 10 participating teams into two groups of five and uses a cross-group format. During Weeks 1 and 2, each team plays a single best-of-three series against every team from the opposing group, earning one point per win.

Teams are ranked within their group based on their results. In Week 3 (called “Super Week”), squads with the same seed will play against each other in best-of-five matches worth 2 points. All group scores are then combined to determine final group standings.

The group with the most points becomes the Winner Group and will send its top two teams directly to Round 2 of the Playoffs. The top team from the corresponding Loser Group will enter from Round 1, while the bottom team from the Loser Group is eliminated.

The remaining mid-ranking teams (i.e., 3rd–5th place from the Winner Group and 2nd–4th place from the Loser Group) will advance to the Play-In. All matches will use Hard Fearless Draft, meaning champions picked by either team are banned for the remainder of the series.

Play-In

The Play-In (Feb. 6–8) follows a double-elimination bracket format and teams are seeded based on total series wins from the Group Battle. All matches will be played as a best-of-three series, except for the final qualification round, which will be a best-of-five. The top 3 teams qualify for the next stage.

Playoffs

The Playoffs (Feb. 12 to March 1) adopt a double-elimination bracket format. All matches will be played as best-of-five series using Fearless Draft. The top two teams at the end of the tournament will receive direct invites to First Stand 2026.

ft. This makes the LCK Cup 2026 is the first real collision between the Korean league’s rebuilt rosters.

What’s more, there are only two spots available at First Stand 2026, leaving practically no room for error. Here are our picks of the teams competing at LCK Cup 2026.

Important: These predictions reflect the perceived strength of teams based on historical trends and the latest available odds. This analysis should not be interpreted as betting advice. Past performance does not guarantee future outcomes. Always gamble responsibly.

Gen.G (#1)

Gen.G enters the LCK Cup 2026 as the strongest team on paper and the favorite to lock in a spot at First Stand 2026.

While it might feel like déjà vu, the case is hard to argue against. Gen.G concluded the 2025 season ranked #2 on the Global Power Rankings with an impressive 46–8 (85.2% win rate) record, lifting the Mid-Season Invitational, Esports World Cup, and LCK Season trophies along the way.

Most convincingly, the team traded no players in the offseason, preserving a proven core of Chovy, Ruler, and Kiin. Though Canyon’s recent form is up for debate, Gen.G’s roster stability will pay dividends in the season’s kickoff event, especially with a lineup that many regard as being the best in the world.

Backed by outright odds of 2.50 (40% implied) and 1.70 no-vig pricing (56.0% fair probability) against T1, there really aren’t many barriers blocking another Gen.G statement run.

Gen.G roster:

Kim “Kiin” Ki-in

Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu

Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon

Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk

Joo “Duro” Min-kyu

Yoo “Ryu” Sang-wook (Coach)

T1 (#2)

T1 had a dominant season last year that ended with an unprecedented Worlds three-peat, reaffirming their status as the world’s best LoL team.

Despite losing bot laner Gumayusi to rival HLE, the arrival of Peyz has helped preserve market confidence. He’s still finding his feet within the new roster, but early signs have been encouraging.

Supporting this sentiment, the team recently triumphed in the KeSPA Cup. They charged through the Lower Bracket with trademark aggression to defeat giants Dplus and the newly assembled super team HLE for the title. That said, only time will tell if T1 has retained its thunder with both Zeus and Gumayusi gone.

With odds priced at 3.25 (30.77% implied) to win the LCK Cup 2026, T1 remain one of the most compelling outright bets on the board.

T1 roster:

Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon

Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun

Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok

Kim “Peyz” Su-hwan

Ryu “Keria” Min-seok

Kim “KkOma” Jeong-gyun (Coach)

Hanwha Life Esports (#3)

HLE enters the LCK Cup 2026 as a newly established super team featuring a deep pool of talent.

Most notably, the team acquired the legendary tempo jungler Kanavi from LPL juggernaut Top Esports, who finally returns to his home league. He is joined by Worlds 2025 MVP Gumayusi from T1, completing a star-studded lineup with strong top-side and bot lane setups.

The team delivered a benchmark performance in the KeSPA Cup, posting a flawless 4–0 record in Groups and advancing to the Grand Final, dispatching T1 (2–1) and Dplus (3–2) along the way. They fell short of the title, but they also pushed T1 to a full five-game series and rebounded after an early 0–2 deficit.

The latest odds signal caution, though. Priced at 7.50 (13.3% implied) to win outright, it remains to be seen if the team can fully stabilize at the top.

Hanwha Life Esports roster:

Choi “Zeus” Woo-je

Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok

Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo

Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung

Yu “Delight” Hwan-jung

Yoon “Homme“ Sung-young (Coach)

Which Teams Will Qualify For First Stand 2026?

With so many offseason roster shuffles and stiff competitors, the LCK Cup 2026 is understandably one of the toughest tournaments to call outright, but don’t worry.
